These next few months the Green Team has a few important events happening. The first one is an environmental meet and greet. It will take place on February 3rd at the Massey Building, 200 W. Main St., Durant, OK. This will be for people interested in sustainability and the future of our community. Everyone is welcome. You can rsvp here. Refreshments will be provided.
Then, on March 4th and 5th from 5 to 11 pm we are hosting an environmental film festival at Donald W. Reynolds Library, 1515 W Main St, Durant, OK. We will be showing informative documentaries about important environmental issues and solutions. Because films are one of the best teaching tools for exploring the world, we want to immerse our community in the films that we think are some of the most important to our community’s sustainability.
For Earthday, we will be celebrating at Durant Intermediate School on April 22 from 10 am to 4 pm. Like the other events, everyone is welcome. We have many activities and presentations already planned, and will be including many state and local programs, such as KidWind and the Yard by Yard Project. We will also be giving away trees!
We will provide more information as we get closer to these events. Please refer to our calendar section of our website to confirm dates and times. It is our hope that everyone in the community feels welcomed to attend all of our events. It is our goal to work with everyone to build a more sustainable community and do all that we can to protect our planet and all its inhabitants. If you have a question or would like to help with these events, please contact Elizabeth Callicoat at elizabeth.callicoat@durantisd.org. Thank you!
